Condolences
Absolutely shocked and saddened to sit down this evening with the intention of sending a 'Hi friend, how have you been?" note to this very beautiful and radiant soul, only to learn of her passing. Karen and I became fast friends when we met so many years ago at Toombs Inc., and we remained friends long after I had left to pursue further education. We stayed in touch over the years, regaling each other with tales of our lives, our dreams, and our families. She was a dedicated and hard worker, an encouraging and supportive colleague, and a courageous pioneer in her career. More than that, she was an effervescent champion of positivity and optimism, absolutely spilling over with kindness and the light of her incredibly generous spirit. To her beloved Kane and Georgina, your mom is truly one of the best people I have ever known, and she often told me how very proud she was of both of you, how much she loved you, and how to her you meant the world. To her family and friends, my deepest sympathies for your loss, and many blessings to all of you in this very difficult time. Karen, you are the most beautiful of angels, and you will be very missed.
Karen Berg is an amazing person and friend. I've worked for her for a few years, when I heard the news of her passing I was shocked and saddend. She will be missed but never forgotten
Karen was an amazing person, a great friend, and wonderful to work for and with. I can't believe I will never see her beautiful smile again. The world is a poorer place with her absence.
With sorrow for Kane, Georgie and family,
Helen Whyte
To Karen's family and friends,
I just learned of this sweet soul's passing. Taken too soon and Karen will be greatly missed, as she was cherished by so many of us. I met her when I hired her as sales coordinator for a resort lodge chain (Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts). It was her first 'big' job and she was amazing. We kept in touch as I moved back to Ontario. She brought Kane (as a baby) to visit us. She also remarked to me that I was a real mentor for her, which will be a livelong compliment. I wish I was closer to celebrate her life with you all today. Not gone, just gone ahead. RIP Karen, you live on in our wonderful memories.
Fifteen years ago, I was interviewed by Karen and remember being impressed by her beautiful style and her kindness. I was privileged to work with Karen for almost fourteen years and gained a deep respect for her incredible work ethic, knowledge, patience and was blessed by her caring heart, humour and creativity. Karen was more than just a great boss and wonderful leader she was truly an amazing person. Over the years her genuine kindness and unexpected thoughtfulness touched my life in so many ways. She was generous and giving of herself, her time and talents. Reaching out and connecting through cards, notes, phone calls, painted rocks, small gifts, sunflower seeds or a shoulder to lean on. She had a huge impact on my life, and I am a better person for knowing her. I miss her.
I’m shocked to hear of your passing Karen, such a beautiful person to be gone so soon. I remember working with you as a client and then a colleague. You proved yourself to be the most gifted administrator I’ve ever known. May God’s peace and comfort overwhelm all of your love ones at this very difficult time. I am blessed to have known you Karen
Absolutely heart broken and devastated when I learned of Karen's passing. I am so blessed to have had Karen as a co-worker and friend. Even though Karen was much younger than me I always found Karen to be so wise and compassionate and I aspired to be more like Karen myself. I have signed up for organ donations here in BC. Karen was so proud of Kane and Georgina, with every right; she helped raise amazing young people and that is her greatest legacy. She lived and loved whole heartedly and always put others first. The world is a sadder place without you here dear Karen but no that we are all better off having had you touch our lives. Rest in peace my beautiful friend. Bev Toovey
Kane, Georgina, family and friends of Karen.
It is with a very heavy "heart" that I write my note to you all. I am so very shocked saddened for you.
Karen was one of the Moms of our boys that hung out together. We would text each other late at night "Where are the boys? What are the boys doing?" Good mother hens we were!
I also had the privilege of meeting Karen yet again through an outplacement agency where she worked at the time. She was so incredibly helpful and kind with coffees and lunches and talks. A very bright and kind hearted woman...
Karen and I have the "random heart" thing in common which is very cool.
The community is here for you...
Much Love and support to you...

I've been finding rock hearts since we said goodbye, Karen. I think of you, look down and I see one. I already have 4 rocks by my door, one with your name on it. Many I have left on the creek bed, as a testimony to you, and your love of Bentley. I'll see them again and again as I walk my Blue. Like Peter, and the others, I am a recipient of your kindness. You impacted my life with your acceptance and support. Thank you for your friendship at work, outside of work, and your willingness to drive out to see me to visit. You did an amazing job handling all your responsibilities, you put your kids on the top of your list and are the most dedicated person I know. Your values, and example are to be looked up to. Rest in peace my friend.
I was so fortunate to meet Karen through our girls dance studio and she became a wonderful friend. Karen loved her kids fiercely and was so very proud of them. She rarely missed a chance to support her kids. She was often the only parent sitting front and centre at parent viewing week at the studio, much to Georgie’s chagrin!
Karen was such a bright light. Her smile and enthusiasm was contagious and she made everyone feel valued and loved. I will miss her deeply. ❤️
I knew Karen growing up in North Haven in Calgary. I am a childhood friend of her big sister Marie. I’m deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Karen’s passing and my heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends. Rest in Heaven Karen. XO Dawn Chikmoroff
Karen was a valued member of ElderDog Canada in our Calgary Pawd. Her kindness, care, and compassion shone through in all that she did to help dogs and older people in need. The beautifully written obituary certainly reflects the Karen we were so fortunate to have known. We are truly grateful for the time she gave to ElderDog and for the difference she made in the lives of those she touched. In honour of Karen, we will release a butterfly in her memory at our annual memorial service and butterfly release in August and, on October 15, at our annual tree planting, we will plant a tree in Karen's memory at the location of ElderDog National Office in NS. On behalf of ElderDog Canada, I extend sincerest condolences on the sudden loss of your beloved Karen. May her light continue to shine in your hearts and memories.

I remember Karen about as far back as the early 1980s, when I was fresh out of SAIT, OMG we had a lot of fun at parties at the berg cabin/house and also in Calgary on many weekend events. She was a bunch of fun and a bundle of laughs, I fondly remember her loving Sting & the Police…. I can still hear her sing…”Roooxanne! You don’t have to put on the red light!!” Maaaan she would love to sing that line back then. Although we sadly lost contact over the years after, I will definitely miss, but also remember that, and all she had become since then as a mother with her 2 kids Kane & Georgina. As I read her obituary, which was truly awesomely written, I am inspired by what she has done/did in the years past & also donated for the future, enough to say that her bucket list should almost be full in my eyes, except for the part of leaving all of us waaay to soon. You will always be missed, and in my thoughts, you have left a physical void in your families going forward but the strength you provided from you life and idealisms will only help guide and inspire them in their future. I’m gonna miss you, and I heard you love hearts so here is one from me ❤️.

I met Karen through volunteering with Elder Dog. Karen's kind and caring personality just radiated from her whether you were with her in a room or it came through as an email message or phone conversation. She was a very special lady and we shall all greatly miss her. Karen was truly one of a kind. My sincerest condolences to the family. May you always cherish your memories of her.
Karen was always so happy and caring. Loved every minute of our visits! Way too soon for this to happen. Live es h day to the fullest. Hug everyone deeply. My deepest condolences to all of you, especially her beautiful kids. Love Eileen and Dan Kelly
I cannot even begin to imagine a world without Karen in it. She was the most positive, kindest, loving soul I have met. Georgina and Kane my heart is filled with thoughts of you both. She loved you deeply. Jill (Ty’s owner).
Karen was my first point of contact when I volunteered for Elder Dog in December 2021. Although I only met Karen once we corresponded by email on a regular basis. Karen was always available to lend a hand in volunteering even though she was going to school, commencing a new job. Karen will be missed dearly by all.
I met Karen a year ago as we volunteered with the organization, ElderDog Canada. Walking and loving the dogs was her passion. Karen was the most generous, caring woman I ever met. She went above and beyond to help all of the dogs as well as the owners. My heart and thoughts are with the family.
We were shocked and saddened when Wendi let us know about Karen’s sudden passing. Many memories were made at the lake with the Berg family and Karen was always a part of all of them. The world is a much better place having had her in it. Take comfort knowing that her memory will bring smiles to many.
