Obituary of Leslie Joseph Balczer

July 18, 1933 - Budapest, Hungary

May 31, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

We would like to announce the loss of our loving father and dear friend Leslie Balczer, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the age of 89.9 years old.

Leslie was born in Budapest, Hungary on July 18, 1933, and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Leslie was a proud Hungarian-Canadian and his most memorable vacation was to experience Hungary with his daughter Maryanne and son Michael in 1990. Leslie’s go to rebuttal was “Life is beautiful, only people make it miserable.”

Leslie loved his freedom until his very last day, taking walks around his neighbourhood of Bowness, visiting his many friends and neighbours. Leslie was particularly proud of his company “Calgary Eaves Troughing.”

Leslie is survived by his son Michael Balczer, Michael’s lovely wife Sally and their two sons, Jarrett and Keenan of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Leslie is also survived by his nephews, Gyorgy Balczer and Laszlo Balczer, and his niece Janosna Orosz of Hungary. Leslie is also survived by his niece Elizabeth Nadeau of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Last but certainty not least his godson and close friend, Jeno Fotter, and all the Fotter family of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Leslie was predeceased by his loving daughter Maryanne in 2019.

Leslie requested a private send off without funeral service.
