Celebration of Life
Obituary of Sherri Marie Macson
February 26, 1969 – Edmonton, Alberta
June 2, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Sherri Macson, wife, mother, and artist. She passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta after a battle with cancer.
Sherri was born Sherri Marie Johnson in 1969 in Edmonton, to parents Marilynn and Keith. An avid swimmer and horseback rider growing up, Sherri always had a sense of adventure. She traveled the world as a young woman before returning to school. After graduating from the University of Lethbridge she attained her CMA accreditation and joined Imperial Oil in Calgary.
In that world it was inevitable that Sherri and Brad would cross paths, although Sherri often remarked that their first date nearly never happened. We are happy it did and that they married at Banff Springs Hotel on June 1, 1996.
Two children followed with Ethan born in 2000 and Aiden in 2003.
Sherri found one of her true passions in motherhood. She excelled at providing a happy, healthy lifestyle for her family. Their home was filled with shared activities, good food, and lots of laughter. Visitors were often treated to a gift bag of goodies when they left, just to make the journey sweeter.
Another passion of Sherri’s was to act as an artist and educator. She supported her community by volunteering in public schools and teaching others from her home-based art business. Sherri spent endless hours practicing and preparing to work with her students, happy in the joy she could give. Creativity was her middle name.
Thank you for all the support received from family and friends at this time. In particular, we would like to thank the boy’s girlfriends, Selina and Carly, for their caring. Thank you also to the medical professionals at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Calgary SHC and Southwood Hospice for making Sherri as comfortable as possible during this time.
