Obituary of Trudy Lourdes E Fernandes

February 11, 1983 – Goa, India

June 2, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Trudy Fernandes of Mississauga, ON, suddenly passed away peacefully on Friday, June 02, 2023, at the age of 40.

Trudy was born in Goa and graduated from Loyola CSS and Sheridan College. She was a member of various organizations and volunteered with the SickKids Foundation, the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, Parkinson’s, and Cancer Care Ontario. Trudy was an artist and had a passion for drawing. She also had a remarkable coin collection and was an avid fan of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. She also loved to travel, and her bags were always packed for warm Southern Beach destinations. Her most memorable vacation was to Goa for a cousins wedding. She was thrilled when she had the opportunity to swim with dolphins and ride horses on the beautiful turquoise beaches!

Trudy loved all animals - domestic and wild. She rescued many animals with much love. She most loved her canine and feline companions - Tessa, Carlito and Bear.

Trudy will be lovingly forever missed by her mother, Yvonne Fernandes, and father, Oswald Fernandes. She will be fondly remembered for her big, bright, beautiful smile by her brother, Terence, and sister, Tracey, her nieces Isabella, Malia and Adalyn, and her nephew Hugo and Christopher. She will be dearly missed by so many aunts, uncles, and cousins around the world and friends everywhere.

Trudy will be most remembered for her enormously generous, selfless, and brave heart. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and empathy.

Thank you to all those who have supported and loved Trudy throughout her life.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre St N, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

A Catholic Church service will be held in Mississauga, Ontario on Monday June 12, 2023, followed by a graveside service and reception. Details to come. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
