Obituary of Gisela Durst

November 4, 1957 – June 3, 2023

Gisela passed away on June 3 surrounded by those most important to her.  She was a woman with quick wit, sparkly blue eyes, and an infectious laugh.  She was born, raised and attended high school in Calgary, and received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary.  At the City of Calgary, Youth Employment Centre, and the Sheriff King Home, she counselled clients with deep caring and empathy.  Her summers were spent at her cabin at Lillian Lake near Invermere.  She will be missed by her friends and family. Gisela was determined to live at home with her MS diagnosis and she did so with dignity and her strong sense of will.   She touched many lives, and her laugh will be missed but not forgotten.  A memorial will be held on June 21 at 11:00 at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In living memory of Gisela Edith Durst, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
