Obituary of Carmen de Jesus Pavon McCormick

June 23, 1936 - Acayucan, Veracruz, Mexico

June 4, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen (Carmita) de Jesus Pavon McCormick  on June 4, 2023. She is survived by her two children, James (Gloria) and Rosa; grandchildren Joel and Jenna; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Mexico. She was predeceased by her husband Leland (Lee) McCormick; father Octaviano Pavon; and her mother Rosa Bremont de Pavon; sisters Delia, Rosalba (in infancy); brothers Alberto, Ismael, Jaime, Juan, Octavio, and Raphael.

 

Carmen was born June 23, 1936, and grew up in Acayucan, Mexico. She attended school in Acayucan and Mexico City. She met Lee in Coatzacoalcos, and they lived in many worldwide destinations including Mexico, Venezuela, England, Scotland, Colombia, Abu Dhabi, and Canada. Carmen made lifelong friends wherever she traveled.

 

Carmen will be remembered for her love of family and her creative spirit. She had a passion for painting, sewing, cooking, she will always be remembered for her endless assortment of delicious food. She always looked forward to socializing with friends and family in Mexico, Arizona, and at home.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive SE, Calgary) on June 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Wolf Hill Cemetery near Byemoor, AB. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
