Obituary of Mousa Albaba

Mousa Albaba beloved husband of Dibeh (nee Chahin) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the age of 82 years.

Mousa was born in Heneh, Damascus, Syria on June 25, 1940. Mousa married Dibeh in 1969 and moved to Calgary, AB, Canada in 2005. Mousa worked as a plumber for 40+ years while in Syria and always loved to help people. He enjoyed having friends and family over for visits and shared meals (his favourite foods were lahmeh nayeh and kibbeh). He served the army for two years while residing in Syria. Mousa accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his kids. Mousa enjoyed gardening and planting vegetables like zucchini. He will be most remembered for his laugh and generosity.

Besides his loving wife Dibeh, Mousa is survived by three of his daughters and three of his sons-in-law, Lamis (Fernando), Fadia (Steven) and Mary (Rami); three of his sons and three of his daughters-in-law, Elias (Nour), Khalil (Naveen), Bashar (Marine); and nineteen grandchildren, Mario, George, Matthew, Maria, Miriam, Isabella, Michelle, Mark, Gabi, Stephanie, Michael, Mousa, Anita, Angela, Mirna, Wadeh, Mariel, Philip, and Joel. Mousa is also survived by his sister Jamileh. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church (404 Meredith Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (3157 Erlton street SW Calgary, AB T2S 2V7). Reception to follow at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Parish Hall. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
