Obituary of Donald Thomas Elliott
September 29, 1954 - Sonningdale, Saskatchewan
June 9, 2023 - Cochrane, Alberta
Donald “Don” Elliott, beloved husband of Carrie Elliott (nee Agarand), of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at home at 68 years old with his wife and two children by his side.
Don was born in Sonningdale, SK on September 29, 1954 to Thomas Stavert and Dorothy Mary Elliott where he attended school before starting a long, prosperous career running the family farm. Don married his childhood sweetheart Carrie Agarand on November 3, 1973.
Don enjoyed working as a farmer. He was also a member of the Community Recreation Board, The Volunteer Fire department, The Community Hall, and many other community organizations over the years. Don was very proud of his service as a volunteer fire fighter.
Don enjoyed curling, downhill and cross-country skiing, camping, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to travel, and his most memorable vacation was when he went on a tour of the Canadian Maritimes after his retirement.
Don will be most remembered for his positive outlook on life, beautiful smile, and fun, loving personality. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his loving wife, Don is survived by his son Brody (Nichole) Elliott, of Cochrane, AB; daughter Bree Elliott (Jesse Sadlowski) of Lethbridge, AB; four grandchildren, Memphis Sadlowski, Sloane Elliott, Amelia Sadlowski, and Sawyer Elliott. Don is also survived by his two brothers, Bill Elliott (Michelle Freemen) of PEI and David Elliott (Karen White) of Kelowna, BC; sister Wendy Schmutz of Swan Hills, AB; mother Dorothy Elliott of Lloydminster, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Don was predeceased by his father, Stavert Elliott.
The family would like to thank all of Don and Carrie’s friends and neighbours for their love and support over these last few difficult years.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on June 16, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. for viewing and 2:00 p.m. service. A Celebration of Life will be at Sonningdale Hall at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.MHFH.com.
