Obituary of Irene Park

September 25, 1930 - Runnymede, Saskatchewan

June 6, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Irene Park passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the age of 92 years.

She was the fourth child of Phillip and Mollie Leis. Her siblings were Alma, Ruth, Leonard, Adeline, Bert, and Archie. In 1954 Irene married Harry Park, and the couple moved to Calgary in 1968.

Irene found satisfaction in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed family celebrations, table games, bowling, great meals, and the company of small dogs. She also enjoyed travelling with family to Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, Disney World, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.

Although quiet, she was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Her attention to details, her focus on routine, safety and reliability were models for her family in an ever-changing world.

Irene is survived by her children, Wendy Park (Gerry Olynyk), Cheryl Grant, Bruce Park (Michele), and Colleen Bushey (Mike) ; her grandchildren, Dayna Grant Hjelmeland (Steven), Stephanie Grant, Carlin and Cayla Olynyk, Devin and Amanda Bushey, and Alex and Olivia Park; her great-grandchildren, Eddie and Wilhelmina Hjelmeland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the US.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Mollie Leis, her husband Harry Park; her siblings, Adeline, Ruth, Alma, Leonard, and Archie; her son Brian Park; son-in-law Ken Grant; and grandson Brice Grant.  

The family would like to thank the palliative care nurses that came to the house, and the staff at AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

In accordance with Irene’s wishes, there will be no funeral. After cremation and internment, the family will hold a celebration of her life. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.MHFH.com.
