Obituary of Barbara Janet Kwasny

Barbara Kwasny (nee Holmes) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the age of 91 years.

Barbara was born in High River, AB, on May 21, 1932. She married Stanley Kwasny in 1954 and together they raised three children: Laura (Ron), Bill (Deb), and Rob (Susan).

Barbara graduated from the Holy Cross Hospital and then spent her nursing career at the Holy. She loved healing people, but when she entered her 40s, she discovered the allure of the written word and became a freelance writer.  She co-authored or edited a number of non-fiction books and many magazine articles. Although busy with her writing ideas, she always had time for her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She volunteered with various not-for-profit organizations with the intent to make a difference in this world.

Barbara was predeceased by husband Stan, grandson Andrew Read, and sisters Pat Phillips and Virginia Holmes.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6), on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Chapel of the Bells Funeral Home.
