Obituary of Giuseppe Infusino

November 2, 1929 – Rende, Cosenza, Italy

July 4, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Giuseppe “Joe” Infusino of Calgary, AB, on July 4, 2023, at the age of 93 years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children.

Giuseppe was born on November 2, 1929, in Rende, Cosenza, Italy, and moved to Calgary, AB, on June 14, 1958. He lived with his sister Innocenza and her family until his wife and two oldest children joined him in 1959.

Giuseppe is survived by his wife Maria, of 70 years; children Domenic (Renee), Angela (Modesto), Sandy (Patty), and Lydia (Todd); grandchildren Adam, Christopher (Sarah), Kayla (Scott), Aaron (Paige) and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Luca and Charlotte; his siblings Lina (Francesco) Iannuzzi, Ernesto (Maria) Infusino that live in Calgary; and siblings, Francesco, Ida, Santo, Mario, and Maria that live in Italy, as well as many nieces nephews and extended family.

Giuseppe was predeceased by his brother Rocco, who died in 2010; his sister Innocenza who died in 2019; and his parents Arcangela Minervina and Domenico Infusino.

In his spare time, Giuseppe loved to garden. Not a day went by in the summer months where he couldn’t be found, in his greenhouse and garden, tending to his prized tomatoes and cucumbers. He had a passion for making wine, making bread, and watching any type of sport you could imagine. He had a love of fishing, and sharing his labours of love with anyone who entered his house. Giuseppe was part of a Calgary Co-Op bowling league and even won a trophy for his talent. He loved visiting his friends for coffee and a chat and driving or walking to the Superstore down the street every day, without fail. He will be remembered as a wonderful and dedicated husband, father, Nonno, great-Nonno, and friend.

“Not a day goes by when you are not loved and missed. Held in our hearts forever.”

The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Team and the wonderful staff at Dulcina Hospice as well as Unit 38 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. A special thank you to Patty Infusino for the compassion, tenderness and care you showed our father.
