Obituary of Lillian Copeland

Lillian Copeland of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 89 years.
Lillian was born in Trochu Hospital on April 25, 1934, to Sarah and Richard “Douglas” Pennock. Lil was the youngest of three children and was raised on her parents’ farm northwest of Elnora. She married Stanley Charles Copeland on October 22, 1952, in Elnora, Alberta. They moved to Calgary shortly after and raised their three children in the community of Highland Park.
Lillian is survived by her three children, Marjorie “Ann” Copeland (Michael Oldrey), Douglas S Copeland (Wanda Duhn), Linda Leonard (Doyle); seven grandchildren, Christine Hunt (Jason) and Andrea Bunz (Darryl), Raegan Copeland (Michael Carter), Malorie Collins (Nick) and Jakob Copeland (Chelsea), Jesselynn Myers (Steve) and Cody Collins (Jeannie); two step-grandchildren, Brent Leonard (Sarah) and Scott Leonard; fourteen great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Wilf Pennock (Ella), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and her new dog, Oliver.
Lillian was predeceased by her beloved husband Stan in 2001, her parents, brother Dave, and sister-in-law Eva Pennock.
Lovingly referred to as ‘Nin’ or ‘Ninny’, her home was always open to family, friends, and dogs. She was a strong support person to many and was greatly proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lil enjoyed fishing, camping, and road trips with family and friends. Then, later in life, her favorite vacations were to Jamaica and Hawaii, and cruising in Alaska, the Caribbean, and Panama Canal.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Chapelhow Branch #284. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
