Obituary of Merissa Lee McDonnell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Merissa McDonnell on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the age of 28. Merissa was a mother, loving daughter, a caring granddaughter, a cherished sister, a precious niece, and a dear friend to many. Her kind-heartedness, compassion, and warm smile touched the lives of all who knew her.

 

Born on October 14, 1994, in Calgary, AB, Merissa grew up with a deep love for her family, and friends. From a young age, she displayed an innate kindness, and passion for animals. She was very talented in drawing, and love playing video games.

 

Merissa’s legacy of love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on her family, and friends. Although she may no longer be physically present, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

 

Merissa will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for the love she shared and the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

Merissa is survived by her son Kyran James McDonnell-McGlynn, mother Shannon Bayers of Rockyford, AB, Dad Tony Mikkelsen of Calgary, AB.

 

Merissa is also survived by her two brothers Jonathan McDonnell, and Antonie Nicolai Mikkelsen of Rockyford, AB; grandparents Les (Papa) and Linda (Gram) McDonnell of Rockyford, AB; grandmother Gloria (Nanny) Mikkelsen of Peers, AB; great-grandfather Raymond McDonnell of Weyburn, SK, Aunt Terina Shackleton (Tom) of Rockyford, AB, Aunt Shelly Mikkelsen of Calgary, AB; Uncle David Mikkelsen of Calgary, AB, cousins, Tyler, Alex, Logan, MacKenzie. As well as numerous adopted aunts, uncles, cousins, and bonus moms; along with a monumental amount of extended family, and pets.

Merissa was predeceased by grandfather Michael Mikkelsen (Papa Mike), and great-grandmother Voilet McDonnell.
