May 20, 1953 – North Vancouver, British Columbia
June 15, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Gay Maurean Van-Dack, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 70. She was born on May 20, 1953, in North Vancouver, B.C., and spent most of her life in Calgary, Alberta.
Gay had a sharp mind for math and money matters, which led her to work in payroll for various companies throughout her career. She also supported her husband Gary's Taekwondo club by keeping the books. Gay would also accompany Gary on business trips whenever she could.
Gay and Gary had two daughters, Christina and Jenny. Gay had an overprotective personality when it came to her family, and she showed her love through constant phone calls and check-ins. When her daughters grew up and moved out, Gay started a Sunday night dinner tradition, where the family would gather at her house for games, swimming, and dinner. She had five grandkids and enjoyed watching them play in her pool and snacking on all the goodies she fed them.
Gay loved to gamble. She enjoyed going to the casino or sitting in her living room with her scratch tickets. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and listening to music. Gay was known for her beautiful nails, which she took great care of.
Gay had a huge sweet tooth and loved indulging in desserts. She was generous with gifts, money, and food, always eager to share what she had with others.
Gay is survived by her daughters Christina (Byron) and Jenny (Chris), and her grandchildren Benson, Alexis, Isabella, Xander, and Emmitt. Per Gay's request, there will be no funeral.
In living memory of Gay Van-Dack, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.
