Obituary of Patricia Ellenor Roberts

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Ellenor Roberts, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), friend, and colleague. Patricia’s (Pat) last moments were surrounded by her loving children and family. She passed away peacefully at the PLC hospital in Calgary, Alberta on June 15, 2023 at 5:55 p.m. at the age of 88 years.

Patricia was born on October 21, 1934, in Clinton Township, Niagara, Ontario. Patricia Grew up in Beamsville, a community which is part of the town of Lincoln, ON. Patricia in her youth, could be found with her siblings picking fruit in the Niagara Peninsula. Patricia loved music, dancing, bowling, and playing cards with her late husband Ernie, friends, and family. Patricia was an avid gardener with passion for flowers. While stationed as an Armed Forces spouse at CFB PEI Summerside, Patricia was a recipient of the annual award for her beautiful flower gardens. In 1991 Patricia was recognized for her “dedicated service” of many years with the Calgary Singles Council.

As a young adult Patricia worked for Bell Canada as a telephone operator. Like the character of Ruth Buzzy of “Laugh-In”, “One ringy dingy, two ringy dingy, are you the party to whom I am speaking.” This brought her to Toronto, ON, where she met her children’s father. Other working aspirations included The Credit Bureau of Calgary, followed by a career in the oil & gas industry.

A beautiful, classy, elegant woman, Patricia left her mark upon all those she touched, a true humanitarian who loved all; “She was a lady.”

Patricia is survived by her five adoring children, Mark Millward, Debra (Rob) Hooykaas, Kimberley (Don) Zahorodniuk, Dawn (Allan) Finney, and Blaine (Randi) Millward; along with her many grandchildren (11), great-grandchildren (11), and her youngest brother Jack (Gene). Patricia (Patsy) was predeceased by her parents, Albert (Bert) and Pearl Quinn; along with her sisters, Olga, Olive (Toots), and Sylvia; and her brother Arthur (Art).

Patricia’s wish was for her family to spread her cremated remains of herself and her late husband, Ernie Roberts. Family Graveside Services will be held at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery (Rose Garden, 262075 Rocky View Point, Rocky View County, AB) on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Reception to follow at Parkridge Estates Community Center (222 Burroughs Circle NE, Calgary, AB) at 1:00 p.m.
