Obituary of Marguerite Georgina McRitchie

April 4, 1931 – Edmonton, Alberta
June 17, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Marguerite “Mimi” McRitchie of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the age of 92. Mimi was born in Edmonton on April 4, 1931, the youngest of the Yearwood family that included David, Tom, Helen and Josephine. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Calgary, a move that provided a lot of fun, especially when the Edmonton sports teams lost – as they often did.

Mimi graduated from Western Canada High then went to work with a grain company until she married David McRitchie and started her own family. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. In her younger days she curled, but with four kids to wrangle, her days were full. Once her children were grown, Mimi worked in admissions at the Holy Cross Hospital until her retirement.

Mimi is survived by three children, Bruce (Ulla), Mark and Nancy (Lloyd); her grandchildren, Tim, Jarrett, Adam, Evan (Kourtney), Brianne (Adam), Amanda, Scott (Amanda), Jordan and Renee (Grant). Also left to mourn her loss are her great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; all of whom she enjoyed spending time with and had the opportunity to do so over the last few months.

Mimi was predeceased by her mother, father, brothers and sisters – and more recently her son Douglas and her grandchildren Jeremy and Jennifer.

A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 15th Ave SW, Calgary) on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Marguerite McRitchie, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
