Condolences
I forwarded the sad news of Scott's death to colleagues he had worked with. These are comments, which very much reflect my own thoughts, I received back:
'I remember Scott with fond memories. I often interfaced with him and admired him for his patience with others and his level-headed manners of interacting with his fellow engineers.' KH
'I worked with Scott quite a bit over the years. Without exception, he was very calm, patient, competent and always very generous with his time and his expertise - a pleasure to interact with. Also, I travelled with Scott a couple of times, including a trip to Khartoum for a few weeks around 1990. He was a great travelling companion.' AP
'Sorry to hear of Scott's passing. He was a great friend and wonderful to work with over the years. We all will miss him.' GS
'Scott was in the Thermal Power group for as long as I can remember. He was smart, easy to work with, friendly and involved in nearly all Calgary projects. When the coal fired power generation work stopped, Scott became a go to Engineer on mechanical systems in the Oil Sands projects. He was respected for his technical expertise by the Syncrude, Suncor, Exxon Mobil and Canadian Natural Resources client reps. We’ll miss him at the November lunches.' KB
'Scott was a great colleague and friend.' KT
Scott was always an unpretentious, honest and solid man. He was a good Engineer, totally reliable and hard working. The world needs more Scott Kestners. I feel lucky to have known him for many years. He will not be forgotten.
