Obituary of Kevin Handspiker

January 3, 1962 – Victoria, British Columbia

June 20, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

At the age of 61, Kevin passed peacefully in his sleep dreaming of his next golf game and upcoming NFL season.

Kevin was born January 3,1962 in Victoria, BC to Peter (Spike) and Arlene Handspiker (nee Bodner). At the age of 17 he moved to Alberta to live with his uncles, aunts, and cousins and made it his home.

Kevin is survived by his Alberta family, many friends and by his neighbors, he is remembered for his love of laughter. He had a passion for golf and was a member of the Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary and would on occasion be found on a course in Palm Springs. NFL football, baseball, traveling, attending sporting events and the occasional game of chance were his passions. He had once made the trip to San Francisco so that he could watch his beloved 49er’s play in Levi’s Stadium. Kevin had a bright and energetic personality and a very memorable laugh. He was hardworking and loyal, having only worked for three different companies in his life, Cushing Mills, Scotiabank, and Avenida Denture Clinic. He had the ability to sense when others needed his help and was always there if needed, no questions asked. He touched many lives with his laughter, cheerful face, generosity, and lighthearted conversations that would brighten up any mood.

A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at Blue Devil Golf Club (2300 194th Avenue SE T2X 0R3) on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
