Obituary of Cameron MacDonald

January 3, 1945 - Edmonton, Alberta
June 20, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with sadness but also with tremendous gratitude for having Cam in our lives, that we announce his passing on June 20, 2023. 
 
Born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary, Cam loved his sports. He played golf, hockey, and baseball as a lad and coached his kids in baseball, hockey, and ringette. Cam loved playing, coaching, watching, and talking about sports. His Saturday morning golf group held a special place in his heart. 

Cam also had a passion for music. Rock, folk, country, blues, and classical, all in equal doses with The Rolling Stones and Johnny Cash on heavy rotation.  
 
Cameron graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and was proud to have practiced law in Calgary for 50 years, most of that time with the Walsh Law Team.
 
Cam’s family and home were the centre of his universe; he showed extraordinary love for his family. Cam is survived by his partner in life, Heather; their children, Rob (Kelly Lennox, Lawson and Audrey), Fraser (Hayley, Ward and Arthur), and Kate Akerman (Tyler, Fletcher, and Nevi). He is also survived by Stu, Tanis, Lachlan and Cal Sanders; brothers, Sandy (Carol) and Bruce (Linda); sister-in-law Gillian MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Bruce Macdonald (Carol) and Duncan Macdonald (June); and mother-in-law Lynne Macdonald. He is predeceased by his parents, Hugh John MacDonald, Kathleen MacDonald and brother Ian MacDonald. 
 
“What do we do when our hearts hurt?” asked the boy
“We wrap them with friendship, shared tears and time, till they wake hopeful and happy again.” said the mole

Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
