Obituary of Peter Alan Whalley

November 2, 1956 - Middleton, Nova Scotia

June 21, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Peter Whalley beloved husband of Lori Whalley (nee Pollock) of, Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the age of 66 years.

Peter was born and raised on a farm in Clarence, NS, the youngest of seven children of Leslie and Doris Whalley. He attended Acadia University, where he developed lifelong friends, before venturing out west to find work and settling in Calgary. He never forgot his roots, frequently returning to Nova Scotia to spend time with his family and friends.

In August 1986, Peter married Lori and for almost 37 years he was a devoted, loyal, selfless husband whose love never faltered. He was the first to be there to support Lori in every situation. He will be remembered with love by his son Trevor and his daughter Nicole (Devon). He was a dedicated Dad, spending many hours in arenas around the world cheering and supporting his children’s adventures in hockey and figure skating. His kids could not have had a better father.

Peter’s love of life and sport ability enabled him to easily form many friendships over time. He loved to play hockey, golf, ski, and fish but it was the relationships he developed through these that he cherished most.

Peter was patient, forgiving, and loyal – all qualities needed to be a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Family and friends were so important to Peter; his closest friends would describe him as kind and calm, never having made an enemy, and always keeping the peace.

Peter is also survived by his siblings Jack (Amelia) Whalley, Digby NS; Joan Wright, Brandon MB; Ernie Whalley, Guelph ON, Barb (Tom) Lycett, Bridgetown NS; and Keith (Sharon) Whalley, Moncton NB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his son Matthew, his parents, his sister Pat, sister-in-law Betty, and brothers-in-law, Jim and Bob.

A Celebration of Life in Calgary will be held on Thursday June 29th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Scenic Acres Community Centre, (8825 Scurfield Drive NW) and a second Celebration of Life in Nova Scotia will be held on Friday July 7^th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Eden Golf & Country Club, (5359 201 Hwy, Paradise NS)
