Obituary of Wilfred Albert Thiele

August 6, 1947 - June 24, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wilfred “Wilf” Thiele, beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend at the age of 75 years. He passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Calgary where he has lived for over fifty years. Wilf was born in Spring Valley, SK, one of fifteen children, son of Mary and Albert Thiele. He worked in the fields of construction and construction administration of residential, industrial, and institutional buildings. Wilf enjoyed gardening, spending time in the Rocky Mountains, camping, hiking, skiing and golfing over the years. He also enjoyed vacations with his wife Nancy to the United States, Scotland, Europe and the many golf vacations in the Okanagan.

Wilf is survived by Nancy, his wife of 36 years; he is also survived by sisters Kathy, Eileen, Laurie (Pat), Betty, Linda (Rene), Marj, Riet and Bonnie (Alex); brother Adrian; sister-in-law Patty; and thirty nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Thiele; sisters Bernadette, Janet and Anna; brothers Fred and Larry; and in-laws John F., Ed F., John W., and Joyce W.

Wilf will also be missed by his brother-in-law David and family; late brother-in-law John’s family and numerous cousins on both sides.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Queen’s Park Cemetery following the service.
