Obituary of Mariano Lumiwes Bagto

Mariano Bagto of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the age of 78 years.

Mariano was born in Sagada, Mountain Province, Philippines on the 10th of May, 1945. He would marry his beautiful wife, Marcela Deligen Bagto in November 1971. They would move to Calgary, Alberta, on June 5, 2011.

Mariano enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives, and he loved being around animals. He loved visiting and exploring the adventures of new places. Such as when Mariano experienced his most memorable vacation when he visited the magical Grand Canyon in Arizona, breathtaking Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park in South Utah, USA last year. He will be most remembered for his love for animals especially dogs.

Besides his loving wife, Mariano is survived by his four daughters, Arlene and Genevive in the Philippines, Carolyn and Harriet in Calgary, AB Canada; five sons, Donato in the Philippines, Brenan in New Zealand, Edwin in Arizona, Franklin in Alberta and Israel in Florida; and eighteen grandchildren, Jobelle, Josabelle, Joel Jr, Chelsea, Autumn, Osie, Mayann, Jeremy, Jireh, Japhlet, Marco, Carlo, Miguel, Yasmien, Francine, Marione, Amaeline and Gavin; one great-grandchild, Khyzhyl. Mariano is also survived by his sister Bennie Bagto, London, UK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by parents, Veronica and Donato Bagto; brothers, Joseph, Benito, Patrick; and sister Isabel.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on July 4, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on July 4, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Bagto's prayer service streamed live (see below) on the day of. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on July 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
