Obituary of Bi Thi Trinh

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Bi Thi Trinh announces that their beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the age of 85 years.

Bi was born in Saigon, Vietnam on 22 June 1938. For the first 37 years of her life, she knew only hardship, poverty, and war. Bi escaped Vietnam in 1975, with her two sons and spent almost two years in the Philippines, where the travel on the ship between the Philippines and Vietnam was tumultuous at best. Bi would lead the family to immigrate to Canada in 1977 where they settled in Calgary.

Bi is survived by her sons, Anthony and Richy Trinh; and her grandchildren, Deyved (Amy) Puhl, Azaria Puhl-Trinh (Athaniel), Kyra Puhl-Trinh, Ryker Trinh, Sophia Trinh and Eleanor Trinh. She is also survived by her brothers, sisters and multiple nieces and nephews in both France and the US. Bi was predeceased by her mother (Khach Thi Trinh), father (T. Tamodarane) and brother (Joseph Ramassamy).

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service and reception to follow at Sacred Heart Church, Columbarium and Hall.
