Obituary of Tyler Lynn Many Guns

July 26, 1982 - Cardston, Alberta

July 10, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Tyler Lynn Many Guns on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the age of 40 years at the Foothills hospital in Calgary, with family by his side.  Our precious Tyler was a son, brother, uncle, nephew, great-nephew, cousin, and a friend to all walks of life.

Tyler was born in Cardston, AB but was raised by his grandparents, Matthew and Cecile Many Guns, on the Siksika Nation.  He attended both the Crowfoot School and Arrowwood School. Tyler then moved to Calgary to live with his mom, Arlene, and brother, Daylin, to continue his education at Father Lacombe High School where he graduated Grade 12. In his later years, he would also live with his aunty Lana Many Heads who he took as his second mom.

Tyler was a humble, compassionate, and a good-natured guy with a unique personality. He lived a simple lifestyle, and enjoyed helping family out by being a babysitter, caregiver, cook, and visiting family in Siksika and Calgary.  Family would often say he was like Mr. Clean, forever cleaning up whichever family home he was at, and he always made sure he was clean-cut in looks and what he wore, along with exercising to stay fit.  His favorite music was from Patsy Cline, Lorette Lynn, and Shania Twain. Even though Tyler had a speech impairment, he always enjoyed singing along with music he was listening too.

We will always love our precious Tyler so dearly and he will be missed so much.

Along with his mom, Arlene, and brother, Daylin, Tyler is survived by his aunty/mom Lana Many Heads and his niece Kelsey Many Heads, who he took as a sister.  He is also survived by, his nephew Kai Matthew, and niece Alkiah, who he loved and treasured dearly.

Surviving uncles and aunts include: Scotty (Wanda) Many Guns, Dean (Rowena) Many Guns, Aaron (Dale) Many Guns, George (Colette) Many Guns, Kelly Many Guns, Agar Wolf Leg, and Rosaria Wolf Leg. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention.

Tyler will now be reunited with family that left before him, especially his grandparents, Matthew and Cecile Many Guns; sister Jamie Many Guns; aunt Fran Wolf Leg; uncle Jerome Medicine Traveller; cousins, Amy Many Heads (who he took as his sister), Todd Many Guns, Ajay Wolf Leg, and Wacy Red Gun; paternal great-grandparents, Tom and Josette Many Guns, great-great-grand-parents, James and Mary Many Guns; maternal great-grandparents, Lynden and Dorothy Many Bears; and uncles, aunts, great-uncles, great-aunts, and cousins too many to mention.

Tyler’s extended families include the Many Guns, Many Bears, Melting Tallow, Many Heads, Yellow Fly, Fox, Running Rabbit, Cutter, Rabbit Carrier, Poor Eagles, Duck Chief, Bull Bear, Red Gun, Big Snake, Crowfoot, Wolf Collar, Three Suns, Right Hand, and Back Fat. If we miss anyone we apologize.
