Obituary of Myrtle Eileen Read

Myrtle Read of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Myrtle married Glen Read, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.

Myrtle worked in the Oil and Gas industry as a receptionist.

She was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion #284.

Myrtle enjoyed travelling down south in their fifth wheel. Camping was also another favourite for many years. She loved her winter get-aways to Hawaii, USA, and anywhere else tropical.

Myrtle loved entertaining, she would often hold large dinners with friends, and family. Myrtle also had a passion for shopping.

Myrtle could hardly wait each day for 4:00 p.m. each weekday, so she could watch “Victor” on ‘Young & Restless’.  

Myrtle is survived by her son David John Read and daughter-in-law Laurie-Ann Read; four grandchildren, Shawn, Crystal, Amber, and Christine; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn, Ashley, Austin, Crystal, Brad, Alyssa, Madison, Amber, Steve, Simeon, Isaiah, Neo, Christine, Matt, Dominic, and Michael.

Myrtle is also survived by Stephen, Nicole, Kara, Jennifer, and Ty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Myrtle was predeceased by husband Glen Edward, daughter Carol-Ann, and mother, Emma Jane Reid. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

Myrtle’s family would also like to recognize and thank the staff at Airdrie Care Community.  The staff on the second floor were particularly amazing and beautiful.
