Obituary of Audrey Ferguson

Audrey Ferguson (nee Laurie), beloved wife of Donald Ferguson, of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the age of 84 years.  She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Violet Laurie of Olds and later Nanaimo, BC.

Audrey was born in Nordegg, AB, on August 30, 1938. Audrey graduated from Olds High School. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1957, and married Donald Ferguson in May 20, 1960. Audrey worked for Socony Mobil Oil, as a Joint Venture and Purchasing Specialist. She has also worked for Alberta Health Services at Holy Cross, Grace, Medicine Hat, and Sarcee Hospitals.  

Audrey was a wonderful wife, a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had many friends and neighbours that loved her dearly. Everyone loved Audrey.

Audrey enjoyed camping with family through the years, and enjoyed the art of knitting sweaters, crocheting, and needle point as gifts for family, friends, and neighbours. Audrey’s most memorable vacations were camping with her husband and three children through out British Columbia, and around North America.

Audrey’s favorite poem was the Desiderata, “Be cheerful, strive to be happy, and keep peace”. She also had strong faith in God, and The Bible.

Audrey will be most remembered for her love and kindness to family, friends, and neighbours. She bravely battled health issues for most of her life.

Besides her loving husband, Donald, Audrey is survived by son Mark and his wife Lisa Ferguson; and her daughter Laurie and her husband Rod Phillips along with grandchildren Craig, Brock (Kristy), Karolan (William), and Keelie.

Audrey is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her son, the late Garth Ferguson and his wife, the late Pam; Tanya (Kyle), Kaydance; Dustin (Kendra), and Dax, Ty, and Jordyn. Audrey is also survived by her protective, and loving brother Keith (Bibi); Bill Ferguson, nieces and nephew Heather, Colleen and Leland.

The family would like to thank the many Doctors, Nurses, and staff from the Foothills Hospital. Dr. Louie, Dr. Levitt, Dr. VanOlm, and Dr. Field. As well as the current team of internal medicine, and emergency staff for the excellent care, and providing her with valuable years of life.
