Obituary of Gilbert Whitham

March 25, 1932 – Preston, England

July 13, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert Whitham.

Married for 54 years, Gilbert is predeceased by his wife Marion. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his two sons, their spouses, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Born in Lancashire England, Gilbert served in the British Royal Navy and later went on to a career in aircraft and locomotive electrical systems.  Gilbert retired from CNR.

At the age of 33 Gilbert along with the family moved to Canada where they settled in Edmonton and later Leduc.

Gilbert’s artistic passions included performing music, painting, photography and kicking up his heels on the dance floor. He was a great story teller and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years.

Gilbert’s family would like to thank all of the staff at the McKenzie Towne Retirement Home in Calgary for the wonderful care provided over the past year.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday August 13, 2023 from 1-4:00PM at the TELFORD HOUSE (4907 46 St, Leduc, AB T9E 5V9).
