Obituary of Nicolae Sorin Cardos

July 13, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Sorin Nicolae “Nick” Cardos beloved husband of Reli (Laura), passed away in Calgary on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 62 years. Born in Romania, Nick married Reli in 1989 and immigrated to Canada in 2000. They settled in Calgary where they established a home and a wonderful community of friends. Nick was open hearted, sensitive, amusing and friendly.

He had an active life enjoying sports and the outdoors. He loved soccer and was a proud and ardent fan of hockey and the Calgary Flames. Hiking, biking, skiing, skating and fishing were among the outdoors activities he liked the most. He developed his passion for fishing at an early age spending time with his grandfather nearby his hometown. He loved music of all genre’s, from country to rock and everything in between.

During their vacations he and Reli enjoyed some memorable trips across Canada, US and Europe. From Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia, from New York to Alaska and Hawaii, London, Paris and Rome they brought back wonderful stories and memories.

After graduation with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Timisoara in 1986, Nick worked as an Engineer at various companies in Romania and Canada. His latest job at Canada Post was a good match for his outgoing personality keeping him in touch with people. He loved it and enjoyed every single day doing it. He led a fulfilling life that saw him pursuing his passions, spend time with his friends and build good life in a new country that he loved.

Nick will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Reli, his brother Dan, sister-in-law Dana-Mihaela as well as other relatives and friends. Nick was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday July 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
