Obituary of Stewart Gordon Barrington

Stewart Gordon “Gord” Barrington of Calgary, AB, much loved father of Scott and Samantha, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the age of 71 years.

Gord was born in Arvida, QB in 1952 to Stewart and Sheena Barrington. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1976 after finishing a degree in Engineering from Queens University.

Gord accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his volunteer service with the Stampede, and his time instructing new scuba divers at Lake Minnewanka. Gord had a passion for skiing, camping, country music, and travelling, with many memorable trips abroad.

He will be fondly remembered for his love of camping, spending many long weekends relaxing at Tunnel Mountain, and an absolutely terrible Jean Chretien impression.

Gord is survived by his partner in life, Glenna Ross of Calgary, AB, his daughter Samantha of Calgary, AB and son Scott (Aleisha) of Edmonton, AB. Gord is also survived by his brother Don (Dani) Barrington, his niece Lindsey (Jordan), as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
