Obituary of Lindsay Brooke Many Bears

November 23, 1985 - Strathmore, Alberta
July 16, 2023 - Calgary, AB

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful and loving mother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. 

Brooke Many Bears was born November 23, 1985 at the Strathmore Hospital. Brooke attended Crowfoot and Milo for elementary and SNHS and Bassano for Sr. High. She was currently studying to be an Addiction Counselor at Reeves College; she was a month away from graduating. Brooke loved spending time with her girls, listening to music, exploring the city, and scootering (well she tried to). She especially loved being with her fur baby Mira-Lane she always said, “me and Mira against the world.” 

Brooke enjoyed her music, some of her favorites were Backstreet Boys, Metallica and Eminem. She enjoyed watching movies her all time favorite was Nightmare Before Christmas, she also loved Marilyn Monroe. Brooke loved spending time with her family, she always took care of planning everything for the family dinners, birthdays and of course BBQs. 

Brooke is survived by her beautiful precious girls Haileyjoy Crisage Many Bears and Cori-Leigh Saige Many Bears and stepdaughter Ladawnis; her god sons, Stanley Many Bears and Brooklyn Many Shots; parents, Nelson and Joyce Many Bears; siblings, Esther (Everertt) Mills, Erik (Lizzie) Many Bears, Lacey Rabbit Carrier and Ashley Many Shots; adopted brother Gerald (Laura) Seaton; and her spouse JoeJoe Many Wounds.

She is also survived by her auntie and uncles on dad’s side, Annmarie (Leonard) Good Eagle, Laura (Gerald) Sitting Eagle, Ann Cecile Spring Chief Bunny Many Bears, Delia (Harley) Spring Chief, Ryan Many Bears, and Gerald (Myrna) Many Bears. 

Auntie and uncles on her moms’ side, Fred Chief, Harley Sitting Eagle, Roanna (Homer) Sitting Eagle, Darryl (Lauren) Sitting Eagle, Troy (Cindi) Sitting Eagle, Sandra (Radford) BlackRider, Vivian (Richard) Sitting Eagle and Gabriella Duane Many Shots; Kookum Roberta Pelletier and grandpa’s Joe (Claudia) Patrick, Gerald (Laura) Sitting Eagle. 

Her extended families, Sitting Eagle, White Calf, Mosquito, Swindler, Slim John, Big Child, Red Calf, Drunken Chief, Bigsnake, Own Chief, Breakers, Doors, Running Rabbit, Cayenne, Catface, Three Bulls, Good Eagle, Many Guns, Many Heads, Stud Horse Water Chief, Yellow Old Woman, Fox, Hairy Bull, Shades, Pantherbone, WolfChild and YellowFly.

She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Phillip and Lily Many Bears; maternal grandparents, Roy and Ethel Sitting Eagle; uncles, Dwayne and Stanley Sitting Eagle, Andy,Jaye and Francis Many Bears; brother Gerrance Sitting Eagle; cousins, McKayla McDougall, Tyler and Drew Spring Chief; nephew Brydon Watson; and her niece Preslee Roze. 

The Family would like to express apologies if they have forgotten anyone. 

Wake Services will be held at the residence of her parents, Nelson and Joyce Many Bears (Map10 House 82, Many Bears Flats, Siksika Nation, AB) on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 6:00 p.m., with the rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at the Many Bears Cemetery. Feast to follow at the residence of Nelson and Joyce Many Bears. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
