Obituary of Hae Jin Park

 

April 24, 1931 - Mokpo, South Korea

July 21, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Hae Jin Park (nee Sohn), beloved wife of Dong Jin Park, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born in Mokpo, South Korea, on April 24, 1931. Hae Jin, with her husband and four sons, immigrated to Canada in 1970, first settling in Fort Vermilion, AB. She resided in Calgary for the last twenty-five years. She enjoyed a marriage of seventy years to her devoted husband, Dong Jin, who survives her.

 

In addition to her husband, Hae Jin is lovingly remembered by her sons, Charles (Colette), Phillip (Pamela), and James (Maria); her daughter-in-law, Helen; her youngest brother, Jin Whan Sohn of Surrey, BC; her ten grandchildren, Jason (Julie), Jeremy (Yoorim), Joanne (Gavin), Roland, Katharine (Adam), Julia (Evan), Mitchell, Brandon, Ileana, and Mattias; and three great-grandchildren, Elias, Eden, and Lowenna. Her nephew, Steve (Sun Young), her niece, Mickey (Lester), as well as relatives in Korea will also remember her. Hae Jin has been reunited with her oldest son, David, who left us too soon. Hae Jin’s loss will be deeply felt by her family.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Korean Village Restaurant (1324 - 10 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T3C 0J2) at 1:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed on this website.
