Obituary of Patrick Vincent Harte

March 12, 1942 – Brisbane, Australia

July 22, 2023 - Okotoks, Alberta

Patrick Harte beloved husband of Wanda Lewin of Okotoks, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

Patrick was born in Brisbane, Australia on March 12, 1942.

He moved to Calgary, AB, Canada in 1966.

Patrick went on to extend his education, graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science in physics, Sydney Teachers College with a Diploma of Education, and from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education degree.

Patrick lived with Wanda since 1995.

Patrick accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his grandchildren. He made a lifelong pursuit of building and changing the family cabin north of Sundre. Many weekends were spent cooking over the open fire in the cook house and sharing tales with good friends. 

Patrick was born with the travel bug and explored the world.

Patrick’s favourite activity was talking about history and politics and the latest book that he was enjoying, he was always reading. He helped many people throughout his life, being very supportive to others in need. He had a fantastic sense of humor and a flair with words, a true storyteller.

Besides his loving wife Wanda, Patrick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karri and Garry Fournier; son, Aaron Lewin, and his two grandchildren, Ayden Fournier and Mason Fournier.

Patrick is also survived by his three brothers and sister-in-law, John, Terry and Helen, and Peter Harte of Sydney, Australia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Patrick was predeceased by parents Phyllis “Norma” Therese and Thomas Vincent Harte.

A Celebration of Patrick’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Patrick’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
