Obituary of Laura Alison Boyechko - O'Hara
April 20, 1992 – Calgary, Alberta
July 22, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Laura Alison on Saturday, July 22, 2023. She fought a long and courageous battle before and after her double lung transplant.
Laura blazed her own trail from a very young age and was creative and clever. She loved art, music, and concerts and had toured to many cities to support her favorite bands, many of whom became good friends of hers, Silverstein in particular. We thank her donor and their family every day for giving her a fighting chance at life. A "sock tree" stands in her honor and reminds us of her love for uniqueness and mismatched socks.
Laura is survived by her beloved husband Cameron O'Hara and their two kitties, parents, Sandra and Lorne Boyechko; Cam's parents Jay and Dianne O'Hara; sisters, Christine (Luke) Konoza and Ashleigh (Tyler) Boyechko, nephew and niece Jake and Ella Konoza, her grandmas, Jean Ryba and Adeline Boyechko, special aunts and uncles, Terri and Russ Mair and sons, Blake and Stuart, Valerie and Dave Schmidt and sons, Paul and Derek; and numerous friends and relatives.
We cannot express enough gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who supported her through this. Special thanks to Dr Whittaker, Dr. Thakrar, and Dr. Helmersen.
A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday July 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. In honor of her please wear mismatched socks. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, she requested you donate to your favorite animal rescue in her memory.
