Obituary of Gordon William Mitchell

July 7, 1953 - Calgary, Alberta

July 25, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gord, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, and children Lisa (Joel), Scott (Sydney), and Megan (Jesse), and his granddaughter Ellie. He is also survived by his brothers Kevin and Mark, sister Charonne and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gord found joy in simple pleasures, such as gathering around the table for a game of Yahtzee with family, trivial pursuit nights with close friends, or merely catching up over a cup of coffee. His jokes and wit, combined with his knack for storytelling and drawing caricatures could brighten even the dullest of days. He had a love for collecting watches, Matchbox and Dinky toys, a testament to his appreciation for the little things in life.

His exceptional memory led him to keep daily journals for decades, capturing the beauty of everyday moments. Beyond his personal hobbies, Gord dedicated 42 years as a mixer driver for Revelstoke and Inland Concrete, helping to build a city he loved to call home.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Lyndsey and the AHS Palliative Care team, the Pain and Symptom Management team and Oncologists at Tom Baker, and Chinook Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
