Obituary of Lucien Mathurin

January 6, 1948 - Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

July 28, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Lucien Mathurin, beloved husband of Rosanie and father of three daughters, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2023, at the age of 75 years old.

He was predeceased by his parents, Andrea Bastien and Iramond Mathurin; his three brothers, Magloire, Jean-Robert, and Gerald; as well as his two sisters, Marie-Rose and Marie-Jessie.

Lucien was born in Port-Au-Prince where he met his wife, the love of his life and partner for over fifty years, Rosanie Ductan. Together they immigrated to Montreal, Canada and had three daughters: Dominique, Nathalie and Pascale. Lucien was a progressive father who raised his daughters to be independent, strong and opinionated. He was extremely proud of them and wanted them to never stop reaching for the moon and to make whatever adjustments they needed to make their lives happy. His legacy continues with his grandchildren Victoria, Sidney and Zayn. During his last years, they were his best friends, and he was their favorite playmate.

Lucien is survived by only one of his six siblings, Murat, his dear brother and accomplice. Lucien also has numerous nieces and nephews, Schneider (Pouchon), Nirvah, Tamara, Ricardo, Gary, Patrice, Reginald, Lesly, Jean-Michael, Pamela, Murat Junior and Geoffrey Andrew.

Lucien was the owner of a successful business, LM Delivery Express. Throughout the years, Lucien proved himself a hard worker always looking to provide the best of everything for his family. On that regard, he was relentless and passionate. Lucien loved life. He enjoyed being in the company of friends and family. He was warm and consequently a friend to many. While Lucien adored his daughters, he still had enough love in him to be a father figure for those in need of one, a brother or just a shoulder to lean on. He was generous and loved people; therefore, he was loved by whoever crossed his path.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday August 12, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Mathurin’s service streamed live on the day of the service. Reception to follow at 3pm at the Patterson Clubhouse located at 2200 Patterson view SW, Calgary, Alberta.
