Obituary of Gladys Ada Mueller

February 18, 1938 – Carragana, Saskatchewan

July 30, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Gladys Mueller (nee Mullock) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the age of 85 years.

 

Gladys worked as a bank teller after finishing high school, where she met her husband, Garnet Mueller. As Garnet worked in the geophysical industry, their early years of marriage involved living in numerous towns throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.  During this period, Gladys and Garnet welcomed three children, sons, Bob, Brad and daughter Darcy.

 

For over 35 years, Gladys was very involved with the Calgary Stampede Light Horse Committee.  She was very passionate about her volunteer work with the Calgary Stampede and was recently recognized with a 35-year pin.

 

Gladys loved to travel in her family motorhome, and particularly enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving weekend with her family in Banff.  She also enjoyed travelling extensively in the United States and Europe. Gladys pursued many hobbies, which included, ceramics, raising and showing Peruvian Paso horses with her brother Bob, and crocheting. Throughout the winter months, Gladys was an avid hockey and curling fan, and attended many Calgary Flames games.

 

Gladys is survived by her husband, Garnet, her sons, Bob, Brad (Susan) and daughter Darcy (Joe); and four grandchildren, Michelle, Olivia, Evan, and Neve. As well, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Barb, Verla, Betty, and Margaret, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Don, and Bob.

 

As per Gladys’ wishes, there will be no formal service.  A private family celebration of her life will be held with her immediate family. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Gladys’ family here.
