Patricia “Joan” Nolan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Salvation Army Agape Hospice on July 31, 2023, at the age of 89.
Joan had a unique way of making everyone in her life feel cherished and loved. Her sense of humour, thoughtfulness, and devotion to her family and friends will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Jean Nolan; cousin in-law Inez Nolan; nieces and nephews Tom (Laurel) and Colleen (Scott) Nolan, Pat, Greg, and Kathy (Cue) Green, Neil (Donna), Bob (Gayle), and Jay Reddekopp, and Kerry, Pat (Marion), and Jeff Nolan; niece-in-law Agnes Hubert; great nieces and nephews Erin, Katrina, Robb, Ben, Riley, Corry, Kelleen, Shaun, and Sean; great-great-nieces and nephews; extended family; and numerous friends.
Throughout her life, she forged meaningful friendships, and her presence left a lasting impact wherever she lived. She was a beloved member of the communities at Woodsman Lane and Sierras of Tuscany, where she made lifelong friends who became like family. The parishes of St. Patrick's, Holy Spirit, and St. Luke's were not just places of worship for her; they were communities she cherished.
Joan was born at Lacombe, Alberta, on December 26, 1933, to Joseph Nolan and Margaret “Peggy” Ward. Following her graduation from Acme High School, she moved to Calgary where she lived for the past 70 years. She initially worked as a dental assistant before a career at General Motors Acceptance Corporation.
She was predeceased by her brother Frank (Bud), her sisters Margaret (Green), Julia (Reddekopp), and Joyce, her cousin Charles (Walt), and her nephew Barry.
The family wishes to thank all those who supported them and Joan in her final weeks, especially her friends Judy and Shirley, who provided daily care for Joan and her beloved cat, Callie, the dedicated staff of Unit 47 at the Rockyview Hospital, and the caring team at Salvation Army Agape Hospice, who ensured Joan’s comfort during her final moments.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Dr NW) on Tuesday August 15, at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Father Edmund. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
