Obituary of Gary Wayne Nieman

Gary Wayne Nieman passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 surrounded by his family at the age of 65 years.
Gary was born in Medicine Hat on September 20, 1957 before relocating to Calgary shortly thereafter.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Elizabeth Nieman; his two children, Scott James (Katie) Nieman and Stephanie Lynn (Danny) Nieman; three brothers, Ronald Eugene (Donna) Nieman, Thomas Elmer (Sylvia) Nieman, and Dennis Keith (Mary) Nieman; his grandson Ethan James Nieman; his grandpups; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gary was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, coach, and friend. He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Gary’s family here.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice as he was truly in the best hands and received the most compassionate care.
