Obituary of Csaba Harcsa

September 23, 1954 – Szony, Hungary

August 13, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Csaba, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Lisa and his daughter Ildiko on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the age of 68 years.

He left Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 with his parent and brothers. The family has resided in Calgary since 1957.

Csaba loved people and he was an easy person to love. His kindness and positivity touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He enjoyed motorcycles and always referred to “wind therapy”. He loved music and one of his favorite pastimes was jamming with anyone and everyone. He also loved water activities. His favourite activities were windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding, ice sailing, and waterskiing. Csaba was always enthusiastic to encourage people and facilitate opportunities to try the activities he loved. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife Lisa and they many wonderful adventures together.

Csaba was kind, thoughtful, positive, energetic, patient caring, strong, and resilient. He was a superhero to us all.

Csaba is survived by his loving wife Lisa, children, Peter, Ildiko (Peter) Hartmann, and Bruce McCulloch; sisters-in-law, Alice and Eva Harcsa; nieces, Szuzsanna (Trever, Anthony, Taylor, James), Emese (Chris, Michael, Evelyn) Smith, Lenke (Nick) Harcsa; and grandchildren, Indra and Chander. Csaba was predeceased by his mother Ida, father Gyula, and brothers, Thomas and Julius Harcsa.

A Celebration of Csaba’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
