Obituary of Ronald Black Kettle

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ronald “Ronnie” Black Kettle on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at the Strathmore Hospital. Ronnie passed away peacefully at the age of 66 years with his loved ones by his side. Ronnie was born on April 17, 1957, in Siksika, AB and was raised in the Westend of Siksika Nation. Ronnie spent his early education years at Crowfoot school and later in Strathmore. Ronnie was the sixth child in a family of nine siblings and was born to Alexander and Annie Black Kettle. Ronnie was a son, a brother, uncle, and friend but the most important titles Ronnie held was that of Dad, Grandpa and Great-grandpa.
Ronnie leaves behind his son Ryan Black Kettle and daughter Darla Rasmussen, his siblings Gail Many Heads, Alvin (Arlene) Black Kettle, Michael Black Kettle, Jerome (Della) Black Kettle, Denise (Curtis) Black Kettle, Terrance Black Kettle, Jennifer Black Kettle; his grandchildren, Phox, Sedar, Nikita, Taniya, Allister, Kiera, Aliza, Leah, Latisha, Santino, Patricio; and great-grandchildren Tanner and Tiyonna. Ronnie is also survived by his uncles, Tom Crane Bear, Herbie Black Kettle and Danny Black Kettle, his auntie Christine Little Chief, as well as many friends and extended family members from the Black Kettle, Crane Bear, Winnipeg, Bear Chief, Conrad, Heavy Shield, Spring Chief, Weasel Head, Youngman, Letourneau, Inksters, Little Chief, Many Shots, Sleighs, Running Rabbit, Big Snake, Wolf Leg, Wright, Eaglespeakers, and Lowhorns families.
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Annie, his sister Bertha Girolami and his beloved daughter Rhonda and her mother Charlene Royal.
The family would like to thank the Brentwood Care Facility in Calgary and the Strathmore hospital for the care and the attention given to Ronnie.
Wake Services will be held the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 6:00pm to midnight.
Funeral services will be held the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00am.
Graveside service to follow at the Eagles Nest Cemetery (Westend, Siksika Nation, AB). Everyone is invited to join the family for a traditional feast afterwards back at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB).
