Obituary of Jean Anna Watters

Jean Watters (nee Urkow), of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the age of 82 years.

Jean graduated with a Nursing Aide Certificate in 1962 and put it to use at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Jean married Murray in 1968.

Her family will fondly remember her joy in announcing the latest family additions from her extended families and reuniting with her many siblings at family weddings; her travels and lovingly preparing meals for her family. In particular, she made an amazing pie crust! Jean enjoyed traveling and was able to visit a wide variety of areas around the world.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Adrian and Todd, along with daughters-in-law Carie Lee and Chris; and three grandchildren, Jayce, Quinten and Kaelan. Jean is also survived by three brothers, John, Peter and Ted; and six sisters, Alice, Mary, Margaret, Betty, Patricia, and Sonia; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jean was predeceased by Murray Watters and siblings, Olga, Nicholas, Doris, Bill, and Mike.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at 96 Shannon Road SW. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Watter’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Jean’s family here.
