Obituary of Jacqueline Susan Appleton

August 18, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta


Jacqueline Susan Appleton passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at South Health Campus in Calgary, AB on Friday August 18, 2023. At the age of 73, Jackie was the beloved wife of David Appleton and daughter of the late Stanley and Margorie Brooker of Buckinghamshire, UK.


Born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire in England, Jackie emigrated to Canada with her family in 1976. She was an avid gardener and spent many years of her life as a professionally trained seamstress, among many other trades.  Alongside her husband Dave they also ran a dry-cleaning business.  She was truly a “Jackie of all trades”.


Jackie and Dave spent many years camping and traveling to Sunny destinations with their favorite being Jamaica.


Besides her loving husband, Jackie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Brian) and Teresa, and predeceased by her son Craig in 2019.


She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rebecca (James), Andrew (Kaylah), Jessica, Justin (Roselle), T.J. (Maddie) and Stephen.  As well as her great grandchildren: Grey (T.J & Maddie), Lochlin (Jessica) and Emily (Justin & Roselle), and a new great grandbaby arriving in November (Andrew & Kaylah).


Jackie also leaves behind her brother and sister in-law, Ian and Sue Brooker, and their children and grandchildren: Stewart, Simon ((Louise) Emily, Evie & Oliver) and Megan (Ian), all from England.  As well as many other brothers, sisters, nephews & nieces that were found in recent years from England, Australia, and Norway.


Jackie will be remembered fondly by her extended family as well as her many friends.


A Celebration of Life will be held for Jackie at the end of September in Ontario. Details will be announced at a later date.
