Chioma Corllete Obih (nee Ofoegbu) beloved wife of Dr. Desmond Duncan Obih passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the age of 37 following massive intracranial haemorrhage that was inoperable ten days after she welcomed her miracle son Munachimso Zayne Obih.

Chioma was born in Nsukka, Enugu state, Nigeria. She completed her primary and secondary education as one of the brightest student in Madonna primary school and Federal Government Girls College Owerri. Being an Alpha student in sciences, she decided to further her education and attended Madonna University Elele, Nigeria where she graduated as a medical doctor with MBBS. Chioma proceeded to do her one-year mandatory housemanship with Lagos state health service board.

She served her fatherland in 2014 for a year under the National Youth Service Corp in Delta State, Nigeria where she met her loving husband Dr. Desmond Duncan Obih. The two love birds as they were fondly called by the hospital management dated for four years and finally got married in a private court wedding in 2018 with only family members in attendance. Chioma being a strong Catholic had her church wedding at Northampton Cathedral United Kingdom on 31st July 2021.

Chioma and her husband immigrated to the United Kingdom in June 2019 where the started their new life as couples and worked as Emergency physicians in same hospital where they are referred as “Super couples”. By October 2019 the couple became permanent residents in Canada and since then have made Canada their second home with the intention to settle in finally in June 2023. Chioma was a final year trainee awaiting her CCT after maternity leave and was a member of the British Medical Association. Chioma accomplished much through her life with the support of her amazing husband and was particularly proud of having her lovely son after five years of waiting with recurrent miscarriages and failed IVFs.

Chioma’s best moments were dancing/singing with Desmond and gym session at home with him. Chioma enjoyed singing, gym activities and cooking (Fondly called Chef Chi by her UK friends and Colleagues). Chioma is known for her humility and act of kindness/charity for anyone that comes in contact with her. Chioma’s favourite sayings are: “Never go to bed with anger in your heart and don’t take money/material things of the world seriously because in the end you won’t go with any rather only the good food you have eaten”.
