Obituary of Leo Huene

Leonid (Leo) Huene of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the age of 95 years. 

Leo is survived by his daughters, Karen (Vic Klementis), Marilyn (Donna Battaglia) and Bev (Dave Lindorff); six grandchildren, Mike Lillejord (Jenn), Nicole Klementis (Luke), Steve Lillejord (Jen), Chris Klementis (Jenny), Heather Osecki (Devon) and Brad Rogan (Rhianne); and his great-grandchildren, Dawson, Kaylee, Abbey, Paige (Mike Lillejord), Zach and Gavin (Steve Lillejord), Adam and Holly (Chris Klementis), Addison and Bennett (Heather Osecki), and Val and Will (Brad Rogan). Leo is also survived by his brother Ted (Kay).

Leo was predeceased by his wife Velma (Val August 20, 2007) and his sister Catherine (Kay Crutchfield Aug. 30, 2007), and his brother Dmitri.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at All Saints Russian Orthodox Church (905 - 8th Ave NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre St N, Calgary, AB) in the Hospitality Centre on Friday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Leo’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
