Obituary of Patricia Helen Drohan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Patricia “Pat” Drohan, who passed away on September 21, 2023, at the age of 87.

Pat is predeceased by her husband Walt, and left behind her three children, Nelson (Allison), Nick (Jennifer), and Wendy, as well as her grandchildren, Kyle, Brittany, and Mark.

Pat was born on April 2, 1936, at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, AB. She attended Central High School before enrolling in the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art (now known as the Alberta University of the Arts). Pat became versatile and talented artist going on to study metal making/jewelry design and weaving in Rochester, New York. It was while studying art Pat would meet her future husband Walt, one of her instructors who was brilliant and an accomplished artist. They married in 1957 and moved from Calgary to Cochrane, AB in 1972 to raise their family. While the art world would remain a major influence in Pat’s life, she was also a dedicated mother to her family and loved spending time in the kitchen making her famous cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies. Pat loved lining in Alberta and walking the family dogs out in the landscape of Western Canada. She was never afraid to speak her mind, a trait that just made her part of who she was, and which made us love her even more.

Pat will be missed terribly by those who knew her but can take comfort in all of the cherished memories of her she left in out hearts.

As per the family’s request no funeral or memorial service will be held.
