August 29, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda “Muktuk” Leah Manywounds on August 29, 2023, at the age of 51 years old.

Amanda contained a joyous spirit, capable of creating friends in any atmosphere she was welcomed into. She attained a multitude of experience in various fields. However, she was always determined to further her education—as she was naturally intelligent. As a youth, she practiced her athleticism in track and field and found success in the sport. Her interests also expanded into barrel racing to which she received numerous buckles in placing and choreography which she was incredibly passionate about—as dancing was a form of expression she favored. Amanda will be remembered not only for her kind soul and her keen fashion sense, but also for her fierce love for those she held close.

Amanda was a caring and affectionate mother to Angel, Ariel, Cianna, and Dale. She loved her grandchildren deeply, Trevor and Quiet Storm, as she took on the role of grandma with the utmost importance. Amanda also considered her nephews and nieces as her own and will be remembered for the endless amount of love she had for them. The selflessness in the abundance of devotion she had for her family was beyond question.

She is reunited with her father John Manywounds, her brother Kevin Manywounds, and innumerable aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives.

Amanda is survived by her children Angel Dodginghorse, Ariel Manywounds (Adam), Cianna Manywounds, and Dale Manywounds; her mother Lottie Manywounds, her siblings, Anne Manywounds (Hank) and Peter Manywounds (Lisa); her forever sisters-in-law, Charlene Watchmaker and Lisa Twigg; her nieces and nephews, Shanelle, Anyah, Dallas, Dillon, Jewel, Jada, Santana (William), Clarissa (Katarina), Trinity, Landon, Falon (Suede), Sylis (Lauren), Tegan, and Paisley; and her grandchildren, Trevor, Quiet Storm, Kiara, Trestice, Illiana, Zarious, Keanu, and Kashton.

Amanda was predeceased by her father John Manywounds, her brother Kevin Manywounds, her paternal grandparent Annie Manywounds, her maternal grandparents, Steven and Elsie Mistakenchief; and her son-in-law Jim Black.
