Obituary of Cheryl Maureen Blunden

Cheryl Blunden of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the age of 64 years, surrounded by family.
 

Cheryl was born in Sudbury, ON, on June 28, 1959, to Veldon and Doreen Bennett. She relocated to Calgary with her family as a child, where she resided until her passing.

For most of her career, Cheryl worked as a Paralegal/Immigration Advocate. She possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of immigration law and took great pride in her work. Cheryl was often stopped on the street by former clients who wanted to thank her for helping them begin their new lives in Canada. Her legacy will live on with the countless individuals and families she helped.

Cheryl loved to travel with family and friends, with Las Vegas and Victoria being among her favourite vacation spots. One of Cheryl’s favourite activities was playing family and trivia games. Her sense of humour and ability to call up obscure facts ensured that everyone fought over who would get to have her on their team. Family game nights won’t be the same without her.

Cheryl will be greatly missed by her daughters, Leah Blunden (Cameron Yates) of Toronto, and Kendall Valckx (Bryce Gard) of Calgary; her son Austin Valckx of Calgary, her granddaughter Charlotte Valckx-Arnould, her sister Brenda Urzada (Steve Urzada) of Langdon, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle, and friends. She will also be missed by her dog Poe and grandpets, including numerous dogs and cats. Cheryl was predeceased by her mother Doreen, her father Veldon, and her brother Darrell.
