Valerie Agnes Evans, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the age of 89 years.
Val was born in Edmonton, AB, on January 22, 1934, and later moved to Calgary, AB, in 1976.
Val graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons). She was a long-time volunteer of the Calgary Distress Centre and enjoyed helping others.
Valerie loved and had much passion for hiking, walking, painting, knitting, sewing, clogging, and dancing.
Her most memorable vacation was when she ventured out on her own to Waikiki in 1979. Many wonderful stories and memories from that long holiday, and friends made, stayed with her till the end.
She will be most remembered for her loving and kind nature, her tremendous mutual love for her family, and her passion for her many hobbies and pursuits.
Val is survived by her three daughters Barbara Mackley, Margot Fraser, Karen Lawrence (Jarret); and daughter-in-law Jocelyn Clayards. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ross Fraser, Stuart Fraser, Emily Brunetti (Joel), Jordan Lawrence, Kaitlyn Lawrence and Jessica Lawrence; and her great-granddaughter, Sophie Fraser.
Valerie was predeceased by her son Donald Scott Fraser (Jocelyn Clayards), and her sister Beverly McNiven. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Marshall James Evans, Gerald Edward Fitzgerald, and Donald James Fraser; as well as her son-in-law, Peter Sean Mackley (Barbara).
