Obituary of Amanda Michelle Walsh
January 29, 1992 - Newmarket, Ontario
August 31, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Amanda Walsh, of Calgary, AB, on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the age of 31 years.
Amanda was born in Newmarket, ON on January 29, 1992. She moved to Sundre, AB with her mom in 2010.
Amanda graduated from Sundre High School in 2010 as well. Amanda's desire was to pursue a career in addiction counselling this coming year. She had a love for assisting and helping anyone through any difficult challenges or times ahead.
She was a member of the Victory Outreach Church in Forest Lawn, where she volunteered with her mother Mariam Hall and many fellow volunteers providing food hampers and assistance for the less fortunate two or three times a week. She was greatly loved by many clients as well as the entire team.
Amanda faced many challenges through her life and conquered them all with incredible strength and will power. She never showed the physical and emotional pain she endured and always kept her gracious smile just the same.
Amanda’s world revolved around her mother Mariam Hall and family, WWE wrestling, Roman Reigns and arch enemy but also true friend, Triple HHH, Sean aka Step-dad, and her infinite bond to her loving cats, Shadow and Luna. Shadow would go to many places with her, including car rides and walks with his stroller and was essentially her support animal and strength in life with a bond and love unmatched.
Amanda’s most memorable activities were trips to the mountains and enjoying the hot springs in Banff, Panda bears (hence her nickname Amanda Panda!), Pedicures and nail appointments with Mama Bear, as well as writing poems and painting celebration cards for birthdays and Christmas, etc. She took great joy in enjoying social times, outdoor fires and laughter with close friends and family.
She quoted Groucho Marx, “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
Amanda’s favourite musical artist was Eminem, and she was near perfect at reciting lyrics of most all of his songs, especially Mockingbird. She will be most remembered for her beautiful and vibrant smile and unselfish essence she brought to anyone whomever met her with her heart of gold.
Amanda is survived by her mother Mariam Hall of Calgary, AB; father Blake Walsh of Barry’s Bay, ON; brother Bradley Walsh of Barry’s Bay, ON; Uncle Jimmy Hall of Sundre, AB; Auntie Joanne Hall of Olds, AB; as well as step-father Sean Kelly and her step-siblings, Christopher Dummler-Kelly, Tiffany Dummler-Kelly and Bradley Jackhart, all of Calgary, AB; and last but not least, her beloved Shadow boy, and multiple extended family members and friends across Alberta and Ontario.
Amanda was predeceased by Melvin and Grace Hall of Pefferlaw, ON and Peter and Karen Walsh of Udora, ON.
Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Heritage, 1708, 16th Avenue N, across from the North Hill Shopping Centre, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the family’s residence.
