Elizabeth “Libby” Joan Wilson (nee Porter) beloved wife of Jerit Wilson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the age of 39 years.

Libby was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 20, 1984. She grew up between Calgary and Cranbrook before graduating high school from Springbank High School in 2002.

Libby graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Biology in 2007. She then continued schooling and graduated with a Teaching Degree in 2011.

While teaching in Grande Prairie in 2013, Libby met Jerit. After moving back to Calgary, they married in 2016. In 2018, they welcomed their daughter, Violet, into the world. Libby often said the greatest day of her life was the day Violet was born.

Libby was an accomplished photographer, and often did baby, pet, and family photos for people she knew and met through various social clubs. She also volunteered regularly with the Drop-in Center in Calgary to create resume and professional photos for those less fortunate.

Libby was a pet lover (Pugs and Sphinx cats in particular), an avid hiker, and enjoyed travelling, including to both sides of Canada, the UK, Ireland, the U.S., Greece, and Bali.

Libby will be most remembered for her kindness, love of animals, wit, and her unwavering devotion to her daughter.

Libby was also a vocal advocate for Breast Cancer treatment, testing, and research, and established a substantial online presence.

Besides her loving husband, Libby is survived by her daughter, Violet, her sister, Kim, and her parents, Maggie and John.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Libby’s family here. Libby always wished that in lieu of flowers, donations to either a stage 4 breast cancer charity (she always supported Metavivor) or a dog rescue (she was always fond of AARCS) be made in its place.
